Dwell on Design, the largest design fair on the west coast, gathers architects and designers with industry tastemakers for a sensory experience in Los Angeles. This art and design fair is a celebration of contemporary art in the backdrop of LA and its contributions to the global visual arts. The 4-day event will bring together over 100 local and international art galleries.

The public is invited to meet these students and see these projects amongst the 44 on display at the Senior Design Expo, held Wednesday, May 1 from noon-2 p.m. The Expo judges were industry professionals, as well as faculty and staff from across campus. This year’s Expo also welcomed more than 200 high school students as part of an outreach initiative where they explored science, technology, engineering, and math while serving as reviewers. The high schoolers picked two projects for special honorable mentions including one ECE team, AIRplanes, that is working to develop an autonomous drone design that can follow the terrain and fly low to the ground.

The location for the 2025 edition is still under wraps, with the event's organizers and other co-owners, the IES and IALD, finalizing contracts before making an official announcement. Days after the Dallas Market Center wrapped up its most recent ArchLIGHT Summit in September, the group promptly began promoting its 2024 event, slated to be the fourth iteration. Despite a decrease in exhibitor numbers from over 80 in 2022 to 64 in the past year, the event continues to please attendees, while getting mixed reviews from exhibitors. In the constantly evolving landscape of the lighting industry, 2024 heralds a year brimming with opportunities for professionals to congregate and cast a light on the latest innovations in lighting and lighting controls. Launched in 2008, the Capstone Senior Design Program aims to provide students with a capstone experience in which they apply their theoretical knowledge to real applications. The program engages students in an industry-defined problem, where students work with an actual client to solve a real problem. These projects were sponsored by corporate and university partners. Design China Beijing returns for its fifth edition, showcasing international brands alongside local design talent and a cultural programme of talks and installations. Design Miami/Basel returns to Switzerland for its 16th edition providing a platform for exhibiting, acquiring, creating and discussing collectable design from around the world. The fair runs alongside the huge Art Basel art fair in the Swiss city.
Exposing the Barriers in Architecture from a FAME Perspective
A parallel event called Maison&Objet In The City will take place in showrooms across Paris. Located in St Moritz, Switzerland, travelling fair brand Nomad hosts its winter edition at St Moritz in Switzerland, where it will showcase collectable design and contemporary art. The pandemic is now impacting events for the third year in a row, with many shows forced to change their plans. IMM Cologne has been cancelled, the January edition of Maison&Objet has been postponed to March while Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair has been moved to September. Develop strategies for meaningful interactions with exhibitors and speakers to establish relationships and gain industry insights. It is the sister event of the Design Miami show that takes place in Florida each December. Denfair focuses on high-end furniture and lighting while Interiors Australia features architectural products, kitchens, bathrooms and workplace design. Stockholm Design Week sticks to its regular February slot but minus the Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair, which will now take place from 6 to 9 September (see below).

After being postponed for the last two years, Clerkenwell Design Week will once again be taking place in the London neighbourhood. The festival's 11th edition will be spread across three days and a selection of the 100-plus showrooms in Clerkenwell. Salone del Mobile takes place from 5 to 10 April 2022 while Milan design week runs from 4 to 10 April. See Dezeen Events Guide for more details about Salone del Mobile and Milan design week. This year's first edition of twice-yearly Paris trade show Maison&Objet takes place from 24 to 28 March, having been moved from its regular January slot due to the pandemic.
With Covid-19 restrictions in mind, the festival organizers have decided to keep the event exclusive, so tickets may be sold too quickly.
